Modern turbocharged engines are hard on bearings. Thinner oil films, higher cylinder pressures, higher temperatures, and smaller bearing surfaces all add stress. King's coated main bearings are built for these conditions. They combine a high-strength bi-metal design with King's nano-composite polymer coating for longer life and better protection in your Mazdaspeed or Focus ST.
Bi-Metal Design with K-340 Polymer Coating
Each bearing has a steel back with a strengthened aluminum alloy layer. King then applies 5–10 microns of its K-340 nano-composite polymer coating. The coating contains solid lubricants and ceramic additives, so it keeps reducing friction and wear when oil film is at its thinnest. The coating is applied during manufacturing, not afterward, so it bonds evenly and lasts.
Built for Real-World Engine Stress
Every cold start, hard launch, and high-boost pull can briefly cause metal-to-metal contact between the crankshaft and the bearings. The K-340 coating is designed for these moments. It also works well in engines with start/stop technology, where poor lubrication happens much more often.
