pMax Black Tri-Metal Construction

Standard tri-metal bearings use three layers: a steel back, a copper-based middle layer, and a soft overlay. pMax Black strengthens the two upper layers.

• Intermediate layer: A copper-based alloy with 4.5% tin. It reaches a hardness of 115 HV and a load capacity of 17,000 psi, one of the highest in the industry.

• Overlay: Strengthened with 5% copper, then given a nano-scaled hardening process that forms a black, fatigue-resistant shield. The result is a 24% stronger overlay with fatigue resistance of 10,200 psi, 17% more than conventional tri-metal bearings.

• SecureBond: A micro-etch process that improves bonding between layers, so the bearing stays intact under extreme loads.

Engineered Geometry

King's RadiaLock process sets each bearing's crush height for its specific application. This helps the bearing stay firmly seated in its bore, transfer heat, and resist spinning under high loads.
