King Bearings Aluminum Main Bearings
Mazdaspeed 3 2007-2013 | Mazdaspeed 6 2006-2007 | Ford Focus ST 2013-2018 | Fusion 2.0T 2013+
King's aluminum main bearings are a durable, OE-quality choice for rebuilding your Mazdaspeed or Ford 2.0T engine. They use King's K-788 aluminum-silicon alloy, a proven bi-metal material that holds up in daily driving and spirited street use.
K-788 Aluminum-Silicon Alloy
K-788 is an aluminum-based bearing alloy strengthened with 2.5–3% silicon. King designed it for medium-load engines and for engines with nodular cast iron crankshafts. The silicon makes the bearing stronger and more wear resistant than traditional aluminum alloys. It also smooths small surface irregularities on the crankshaft journal as the engine runs.
Bi-Metal Construction
Each bearing has a high-strength steel back bonded to the K-788 alloy lining through an aluminum bonding layer. There is no thin overlay that can wear through, so the bearing keeps working even after normal wear. The alloy is soft enough to conform to the crankshaft and trap small debris, and strong enough for real-world engine loads.
Key Features and Benefits
-
K-788 aluminum-silicon alloy: Strengthened with 2.5–3% silicon for better wear resistance and durability.
-
Lead-free: Made from lead-free aluminum alloy.
-
Crankshaft-friendly: Suited to nodular cast iron cranks. The silicon content helps polish the journal surface during operation.
-
No overlay: The bi-metal design has no thin top layer to wear through, so the bearing has long service life and tolerates wear well.
-
Good conformability and embeddability: The bearing adapts to the journal and absorbs small debris particles, which protects the crank.
-
Ideal for rebuilds: A strong choice for stock and mildly modified engines with factory crankshafts.
