cp-e started off by determining the maximum size core that could fit without major modification to the vehicle. After removing the active grill shutters, and squeezing big hands in tight spaces, cp-e developed the largest core available to the market, a 28 x 8.25 x 5.5 inch monster! This core uses the bar and plate design to help ensure a high level of efficiency.
cp-e then set their sights on the endtanks, developing a design that not only encloses the monstrous core, but also requires no cutting, no drilling, and no permanent modification to the vehicle. With the laser cut brackets, the intercooler will mount in the stock location while matching up to the stock intercooler piping. Customers can now upgrade their piping when their power demands need it and modify in smaller increments.
As always, the cp-e intercooler includes cast endtanks that are welded and pressure tested with the core. What sets these endtanks from the rest is the engineering behind their shape and internal design. Hours of design and computer flow diagrams have been put into the tanks design to virtually eliminate turbulence within them. Many times, upgrading an intercooler causes increased turbo-lag, and an overall pressure loss. This is because of the large size of the core and the turbulence within the endtanks. By designing the endtanks to be smaller, and more efficient cp-e has found a way to minimalize turbulence in order to keep the drivability of the car high, while still enlarging the intercooler drastically.
The internal design of the endtanks directs the air to bring the most optimal airflow as well as an even distribution throughout the core. In intercoolers, the back half of the core only does 25% of the cooling. The endtanks have been designed to direct the air properly into the core for the most even cooling, giving the vehicle the most consistent conditions going into the engine.

Pulling only 2 degrees over ambient temperature with this bad boy. One of the first upgrades you should get for your ford. The stock is crap, and temps sometimes double ambient temps after a huge pull aka. pulling on the interstate. Awesome customer support and service from edge. This intercooler is a beast. My charge temps are so low now and they stay low. I would highly recommend that everyone who owns a 2015-2016 focus st to invest in one of these bad boys in a heart beat.
At first when taking the old intercooler off I was a bit skeptical if this one would fit. After getting it mounted I stepped back and it looked amazing. I also purchased the cp-e meth charge pipe and hotcharge pipe to go with this to help maximize the output from the intercooler (well worth it). I chose to leave off the old air duct system when putting things back together, i think it looks better from the front without it. The performance difference was immediately noticable. The engine has a definite increase in torque and based on the readings from my Cobb Accessport I can see a noticable difference in my temp readings. Hard pulls barely go above ambient temperatures. I have paired this intercooler with the 3" CP-E cold air intake and the two work beautifully together. I would recommend to anyone purchasing this to consider bracing the engine with some performance motor mounts to help enliminate any wheel hop or engine damage from the added torque. All in all great buy, well worth the money. Job took about 3 hours including installing the new pipes and would recommend a friend to help with the mount as this is kinda heavy to do alone.
Great upgrade for my 15 ST. It took about 2 hours to install in my driveway, very simple to do (hardest part is taking the bumper cover off!) and the best part, it lowered in charge temps by 60-80 degrees, if not more, even after long hard pulls back to back.
