I was amazed to see that the oil filter is just about as low as it was with the factory system. I did not expect that. Also, for those who are in Europe, you need to either purchase oil filters from KN (HP-1002) or use the Mazda Skyactiv Diesel filters S550-14-302 9A. Personally I chose the OEM diesel filters because they have a magnet inside to catch whatever goes through.

A must OEM conversion to all BK(2007-2009) owners. Purchased with the Prosport oil filter adapter. Delivered internationally to Greece in just 4 days!!! 30 minutes job max.

The unit itself is awesome. The only issue i have is that the oil cooler that sits on top of it needs to come off. If you still have the 1st gen model / haven’t replaced this to the new style, pony up the 155$ and get it. Mazda put out a TSB to not replace gaskets on the old oil cooler as they are known to leak when replaced. The new model oil cooler fixes this. I would recommend this upgrade.

Shipping was fast and install was pretty straight forward: remove the oil sensor, four bolts holding it to the block, one holding it to the oil cooler, done. Much better than the cartridge oil filter and would highly recommend it.

Have yet to install but just by looking at it I know it’ll be good the quality is top notch!

Just installed this on my 2008 Mazdaspeed 3. Edge shipped it quickly to me and the install was straightforward even to a novice wrencher like me. Here's a tip - you don't need replacement gaskets for the oil cooler. I went to buy some at the dealership and was told the oil cooler comes with integrated gaskets that you re-use so essentially this kit comes with everything you need.

Installed this with the sandwich plate. Fit was perfect. As an added bonus I have much less timing chain rattle on a cold start now. Very satisfied

I installed this kit on my 2009 Mazdaspeed3 to replace the factory cartridge filter housing. This is an OEM part, along with the provided oil filter. It installs in the same location as the existing cartridge filter, and comes with a new gasket which mounts between the housing and the engine block. You will need a short 15mm box-end wrench in order to remove the bolt holding the oil cooler to the oil filter housing. Be careful in removal and installation that you do not damage the gasket on the oil cooler. The bolt is torqued to ~24 ft-lbs.
