An essential Mazdaspeed service tool, and a true cut above in quality and accuracy! You’ll need these tools to positively hold your Mazdaspeed MZR crank and cams in place while changing your chain and/or timing your motor. Several manufacturers have discontinued their tools. None have offered the level of precision found in this specialty Massive Speed Timing Tool. We recommend this timing tool kit for anyone planning to work on their own Mazdaspeed motor, and especially if you are fixing the Mazda VVT system.
Gages are much more than a simple piece of bar stock like others have produced – they are much thicker (and hence stronger) bars that feature 2 machined reliefs offering a TIGHT +/- .001” fit. A much more accurate means of locking your cams, resulting in less need for cam degree adjustment post install.
Pins are super-tolerance monolithic machined 6061 aluminum for an exact fit. Pins are anodized in high-vis Massive Purple for corrosion resistance and this bright coloring will help to remind user of removal(seen folks leave it in – NOT good!). Should pin be left in, aluminum construction will give way without harming vital engine internals. Handle area has built in hex for tool usage. Alpha stamping so you’ll know the difference between the 2 pin styles.

The Cam plate
This plate would not fit and hold my cams in place with everything removed only the intake cam would fit. The exaust cam would not fit no matter what you did. Very disappointed with the product.

Precise Fit. If you can't fit this, its because your cams are upside down. Also, the pin is just there to tell you when your crank is at TDC. Dont leave it or any tool in when you torque down the crank or you will break it. But thats not the tools fault. You just cant leave any tool in there.

Nothing worked
The timing tool didnt fit no matter what we tried so we used my friends st timing tool and it fit perfect ..... also the purple pin from massive bent and snapped into the oil pan and we also tried the pin we use for the st and it worked

I was pretty worried about getting the timing right on my motor but this for sure made it easy.

It works but..
So i got this because you need a tool to time your motor. And itll work fine and all. But why is mine all scratched up? Did they send me a used one or just throw them all around... Nothing like deep cuts but still. Seems odd.

All Things Mazda are Modified
I had to modify the head gasket tool for it to work properly. I did, however, get the job done, once modified.

Makes timing less scary
Works like a dream. Made timing my 2.3L DISI a piece of cake. Make sure the timing chain is taught across the top of the intake and exhaust cams and mark / align the 20th tooth counterclockwise of the gap on the crank pulley with the crank position sensor to make everything go smoothly!
