The factory charge pipe that Subaru includes on the turbocharged FA24 platform is restrictive, narrows down in certain points, and has internal features that disrupt airflow. The GrimmSpeed Charge Pipe features a consistent diameter throughout and gradual bends, allowing for remarkably smoother flow. This all combines to increase horsepower and improve boost response.
Now, when it comes to certain design aspects of the turbocharger / charge pipe configuration on these vehicles from the factory, we do have to hand it to Subaru. The O-Ring quick release mechanism that attaches the charge pipe to the turbo is wonderful in it's simplicity and elegance. We mimicked this design with our Charge Pipe, utilizing the factory retention clip along side a billet 6061 aluminum turbo adapter.
Our Charge Pipe is a direct bolt-in replacement for the factory pipe. Our Pipe utilizes mandrel bent 2.5" 6061 aluminum piping throughout as well as a stepped 5-layer silicone coupler between the lower and upper sections to maintain a consistent flow throughout the entire system. The Upper Pipe includes a cast aluminum intercooler elbow with greatly improved inner geometry when compared to the OEM pipe, allowing for a smoother transition into the intercooler end tank.
Finished with a durable wrinkle black or red powder coat, our Charge Pipe can withstand years of heavy driving while still looking as good as the day you installed it!
