The Focus ST engine can handle a lot of power compared to where it starts out at from Ford. It's not uncommon to get several thousand miles out of one while cramming 400 wheel horsepower worth of air and fuel into it and sending it to 6500rpm and back on the regular. It's what makes the platform so great to begin with. The Focus ST engine responds VERY well to modifications. However, no engine is perfect. If you abuse it enough, no matter how well it's tuned, it will likely fail at some point. There are many options out there to replace your factory engine with. We offer many of those options right here. But one that we feel is a great option for many Focus ST owners is a brand new version of the same thing, an OEM short block. It's not the strongest version of what a Focus ST engine could be, but many of us simply don't need the strongest version, or don't have time to wait for it.
The Ford OEM Focus ST short block is a Ford Genuine Part directly from Ford. This is not an aftermarket component. The short block assembly comes completely assembled with Ford OEM pistons, rods, crankshaft, bearings, girdle, main bolts, freeze plugs, dowels, and balance shaft. The oil pump, strainer tube (oil pickup), and oil pan are NOT included and will need to be installed separately by the end user. The Ford OEM engine is very capable for most street builds. As an alternative to a more expensive, performance short block that might take several weeks or months to machine and assemble, a fresh OEM short block is a great alternative when properly tuned on a bigger turbo setup. Although there is no specific power rating, they are capable of handling 400whp fairly well without overly aggressive tuning and mild street use. If your old motor was simply tired and slowly failed due to the higher power being put through it over a long period of time, this is a great option to get you back on the road.
The price of the block INCLUDES a $500 core charge that will not be refunded. We do not accept core returns and your old engine will remain your responsibility to either sell or dispose of.
